The Start

We started simply with a decision to make some beats via our star beatmaker Tukara Moya aka beatsmith. The driver for this was that we had a bad first experience of the industry with a song we had poured our heart in to being leaked to a top SA artist and to our surprise our song and beat we had bought being on SA radio and the large male artists album.

As much as this was a horrible experience at the time its really been the driver in educating ourselves and controlling our music making process from the start and putting CTT Beats at the heart of the process.

We soon moved from beatmakers to a full in house production team and after the first few beats were circulated and the word was out in Cape Town that we were ready for Artists we have not looked back.

Now ...

We having now expanded both the team and our activities in 2020 and are covering a wide range of areas and functions. We have released music under the “CTT Beats” artist name with collaborations in both the UK and South Africa.

In addition we have all of the services in this process from the beatmaking to the studio time to the mixing and mastering to the distribution all as available services to artists as external services.

In early 2021 we dropped a tape with GBG in Cape Town, have artists in the UK such as J Boy, S Wavey, Ard Adz in active consideration of our songs and selling beats externally off the Beatstars platform. We also have a EP out on all our own beats and mastering with 12 individual artists we have worked with. For us music is about sharing and showcasing others as much as ourselves and this quarterly EP called CTT Presents will be a big move in doing this.

For anyone entering the beatmaking work its a real rush to get that first exclusive sale from someone listening to your work from 9000 miles away and transacting. JUst never give up on your dreams and with creativity and amazing technology making the world of music a closer and closer space anything is possible.

The Future ...

We wish to collaborate with more and more artists in both Cape Town and the UK and make music on our beats with those we see potential and drive in. We hope to be the group that allows collaboration both with us and across the industry. Our parent company Cape Town Thing is a hub of activity and co-ordination of Artists and we are hoping to benefit further from their growth.

On the beat production and sale front we want to be the leading beat maker and beat collaborative leasing beats all around the world. We have started but there is still a long way to go on this journey and we want as many people with us as we achieve our aims.

We believe our exchange of service offering allows artists to work and use our services in exchange for their future time is industry leading and something that helps both ourselves and artists grow.
